An array of new features and a brand new online community, dubbed the World Tekken Federation, has been announced for Namco Bandai’s upcoming 3D fighter, Tekken Tag Tournament 2. In an interview at GamesCom, Katsuhiro Harada introduced “Tekken Tunes” alongside the news that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will include 3D support. Tekken Tunes allows players to “move the soundtrack around, swap character select screen music, and change it for a stage theme.” It also allows players to add their own music to the game from a USB stick or CD.
Along with the new features comes the World Tekken Federation, which provides community forums and the ability to form clan-like teams to compete in ranked leaderboard matches. Players will also have a player card which tracks personal statistics, and when challenged by an opponent, allows you to “analyze their player card to gain insightful metrics pertaining to their entire battle history.” The service has only been specified for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 so far, although it is possible that future Tekken games will also support it. The new features and online community will launch alongside the release of the game itself on September 11th in the United States.
