A report by VG247 indicates that Rovio is moving ahead with a film based on the Angry Birds IP, with theatrical launch slated for 2016. More details are included after the break.
John Cohen, producer on 2010’s “Despicable Me,” will lead the project. In addition, former Marvel Studio chairman and “Iron Man” producer David Maisel has been signed onto the project as executive producer. Finnish developer Rovio will produce the film outside of the traditional studio system, allowing the company complete creative control of the project.
No additional information is currently available about the project, other than the fact that it is slated for a release in 2016.
