Microsoft is looking to replace departing CEO Steve Ballmer by the end of the year and is closing in on a chosen candidate, Bloomberg reports.

Bloomberg sources say some candidates have declined to be considered for the role, including Ebay CEO John Donahow. Other candidates currently being considered include Ford Motors CEO Alan Mulally; former Nokia Oyj CEO Stephen Elop; and Microsoft’s business development and evangelism chief Tony Bates.

Steve Ballmer announced his plans to retire from Microsoft in August, following a company-wide restructure in July. Ballmer has been Microsoft’s second CEO since 2000.
