An unofficial live-action Tomb Raider series is currently in the works to launch alongside Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The announcement was first made by actor/director Stephen Lunsford in a post on Instagram, that has since been removed in order to clarify that it was not officially licensed by Square Enix. “I’m happy to announce that I will be creating a Tomb Raider mini-series to be released with Rise of The Tomb Raider,” Lunsford said in the original post.

“This will act as a prequel to the game and eventual movie. We are currently in pre-production and working hard to make sure this becomes the best live-action iteration of Lara Croft yet. Thank you to Crystal Dynamics for all of your support in this fan production and I can’t wait to make this a reality.”

“Let me re-phrase. This is not an officially licensed Tomb Raider production,” Lundsford wrote in the updated post. “This is currently an unofficial production created by fans for the fans of the Tomb Raider franchise. We are however working with Crystal Dynamics to bring the most accurate representation of the character and the Tomb Raider universe! Looking to film this May! Will update soon.”

Rise of the Tomb Raider is scheduled to launch on Xbox 360 and Xbox One during the holiday season of 2015. It was confirmed last week that Microsoft will be publishing the title.
