Last week, it was confirmed that Neill Blomkamp would be directing a new Alien film.

Today, in an interview with Sky Movies Blomkamp confirmed that it would be a direct sequel to the 1986 Aliens film. “I want this film to feel like it is literally the genetic sibling of Aliens.” Meaning it will go “Alien, Aliens, this movie.”

Sigourney Weaver also confirmed her involvement in the project during the interview and added: “I would love to take Ripley from orbiting around in space and give a proper finish to what was such an excellent story.”

No other details of the film are known, regarding a release date or additional cast members, but Blomkamp confirmed it will be his next project following Chappie, which is set to release March 6th.
