San Diego, CA – More news surfaces during the aftermath of last weeks Comic Con, as during a panel interview at the conference a sequel to 2007’s The Darkness was announced by officers from comic-book publisher Top Cow Productions. Also, a feature film based on the comic books, that has been rumoured to be in production ever since 2004 was confirmed to still be in the works. Top Cow stated that further details relating to this film will be released in the next 6 to 8 weeks.
The first game based on the The Darkness franchise was developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by 2K Games and received extensive critical acclaim. It has been confirmed that Starbreeze Studios will not be attached to the sequel, and it is currently unclear whether or not 2K Games will once again be publishing. Additionally, 2007’s The Darkness was announced to have recently entered the platinum collection of games for both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, which means that it will soon be available at retailers for roughly $30 for either platform.
