Earlier this week, Blizzard has announced that users of their massively multiplayer online roleplaying title, World of Warcraft can aid the people of Japan following the devastation from the Pacific Tsunami by purchasing the title’s newest pet,  the “Cenarion Hatchling”, Buying another downloadable pet, the “Moonkin Hatchling”, will send proceeds to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

According to the statement from Blizzard on the former creature, “For every Cenarion Hatchling purchased between now and July 31, 100% of the $10 USD adoption fee will be donated to the American Red Cross’s Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief efforts. This support will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support, and other assistance to victims of this disaster.”

While no exact figures have come in on the sales of the “Cenarion Hatchling”, the Make-A-Wish foundation has received a $800,000 donation from Blizzard Entertainment, the funds reportedly coming entirely from “Moonkin Hatchling” revenue.

    1. I agree, although I don’t have anything against mmos or major online games offering metatransactions that don’t provide any real advantages(ie. cosmetic or convenience things).

I bought the hatchling… it’s cute. And anything to help Japan 😉

Put 25 on each of the two charitable things on the PS3 as well.
