Like XCOM before it, the formerly strategic Syndicate franchise is getting a first-person shooter re-imagining. While the game has gone from an isometric prospective to first person, weapons and environments from the original games are expected to make an HD return. Four playable co-op is also being implemented, an allusion to Syndicate‘s four cyborg characters. In development at Starbreeze (Chronicles of Riddick, The Darkness), the game has been rumored for over two years, and is now destined for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC sometime in early 2012.
“We are excited to finally reveal what we’ve been working on the past couple years,” said Starbreeze CEO Mikael Nermark. “It’s been a great experience working with EA, and an amazing opportunity for us to use our expertise in the first person shooter and action genres to bring back, and reignite, the signature action/espionage gameplay of Syndicate.”
