In a press release published earlier today, Capcom confirmed the long time rumors that the first three installments in the Devil May Cry series be heading to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 early 2012 as part of the Devil May Cry HD Collection. The collection will retail at $40, and include the original Devil May Cry from 2001, the sequel from 2003, Devil May Cry 2, and the third installment in the series: Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, from 2005. These games were all originally released as Playstation 2 exclusives, though Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening was ported to PC in 2006, and the fourth installment in the series was released as a multi-platform title from launch.
It is currently unclear when the collection will be released, though Capcom has confirmed that it will be made available somewhere early 2012. Each of the titles will be updated with HD graphics, receive bonus content, and receive new Trophies and Achievements. A reboot of the series is currently in the works at developer Ninja Theory, though no release date for this has been confirmed yet.
