Editor’s Note: The rumor has been confirmed via official statement from Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella. Original story follows below.
Unnamed sources have told to Kotaku that one of the founders of Respawn Entertainment, Jason West, has left the studio. In fact, these reports suggest that West may have left as early as May 2012, with the reason for his departure apparently being due to family matters. More information is included after the jump.
Jason West founded Respawn Entertainment in 2010 together with Vince Zampella, after they were fired from Infinity Ward by Activision. They were later joined by more than 40 other developers who left Infinity Ward in their wake. A legal battle between West, Zampella, EA, and Activision ensued, but a settlement between the parties was reached in May last year. According to the report by Kotaku, West left the studio around that time, though his departure was amicably and not related to any issues at the studio.
No official statement has been made by Respawn or EA, the company slated to publish the title currently in development at the studio. As West is currently still listed as President of the studio on the Respawn Entertainment website, this is currently being classified as a rumor.
