According to Deadline, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed film has signed Bill Collage and Adam Cooper to re-draft the script.
The scipt was previously helmed by The Wolverine writer Scott Frank and British playwright Michael Lesslie. Collage and Cooper’s most recent work include Exodus: Gods & Kings, the upcoming retelling of the story of Moses by Ridley Scott, and The General, a historical film by Noah director Darren Aronofsky about George Washington.
Ubisoft announced in fall 2012 that the company was partnering with New Regency and 20th Century Fox for the Assassin’s Creed film. Ubisoft Motion Pictures is making the film “in close collaboration” with New Regency, allowing Ubisoft to maintain creative control over the film, and 20th Century Fox will handle distribution.
Ubisoft plans to release the film in 2015, with Prometheus and X-Men: First Class actor Michael Fassbender set to star in the film. Ubisoft is also collaborating with New Regency to develop a film adaptation for Splinter Cell, which reportedly will have Bourne Identity director Doug Liman directing it.
