Reports surfaced earlier today claiming that the new Hitman game that was in development at Square Enix Montreal was cancelled in 2013, according to the CV of a senior game designer working on the game. Square Enix has since released a statement assuring fans that the previously announced game is still in development at IO Interactive.

“Io-Interactive is developing a new, AAA Hitman game that will be coming to PC and next-gen consoles and Square Enix Montreal is fully focused on mobile development of games some of which are related to the Hitman franchise,” a Square Enix representative told Polygon. “We look forward to sharing more details about these titles later this year.”

Alongside Square Enix Montreal leadership changes last June, a new AAA Hitman title was revealed as in development at IO Interactive. The Montreal studio also announced its focus would be shifted to mobile games development.

Hello Games’ offices were flooded on December 24th when a river broke through its bank.

The developer has continued to update fans through Twitter posts. The latest update reveals that the insurance company won’t cover damages to the office because it was in a “flood risk zone.”

“BAD NEWS! Had a ‘hilarious’ call with insurer yesterday”, the developer’s Twitter post said. “Small print is if you are in a flood risk zone, you are not insured for flooding :(“.

However according to Hello Games the bright side of having no insurance means that it can “just wade in and start setting things straight!”. The studio has not yet commented on the state of its highly anticipated title No Man’s Sky.
