Following rumors, Sony Computer Entertainment of Japan confirmed earlier this week that production of the PSP Go had been halted to allow the company to focus on the NGP. However, Sony Computer Entertainment of America has confirmed to Industrygamers that production of the handheld will be continued in North America.
According to a recent blogpost by an employee of the Japanese Sony Store, Sony has recently ceased production of the PSP Go, with no future shipments planned. The online Japanese Sony store currently lists the PSP Go as ‘Out of Stock,’ with no scheduled restock date.
HMV, a popular retail chain in the UK has slashed their prices on Sony’s PSPgo, the PSP3000 alternative which relies on digital content to 148.99 GBP after a vocal majority complained about the prices and their sales figures for the system. The PSPgo retailed at 224.99 GBP at its launch in October.
