Various Sources – Several parties announced today that special deals would soon be available for their products. The first announcement came from Microsoft, which stated that for the course of next week, the console-exclusive add-on to GTA IV, ‘The Lost and Damned’ is available at a 25% discount. While usually at a price of 1600 Microsoft points, Gold Members who have not yet downloaded the critically acclaimed expansion will be able to acquire the add-on at a price of 1200 Microsoft points. Secondly, Activision announced that customers in the United States who pre-order the upcoming Guitar Hero 5 will receive the new Guitar Hero: Van Halen for free for a console of their choice. This offer is valid on pre-orders from today until the first of September. Guitar Hero 5 is set for a September release, while the Guitar Hero: Van Halen stand-alone expansion is set for late-December release. Both games will be released on the Playstation 2 and 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. Details on this bargain can be found here.
Finally, it seems that Steam is rewarding those who decided to stay home for the summer, as a rather surprising new sale went up on the digital distribution platform. Rather than the regular price of $50, Call of Duty: World at War is now temporarily for sale for a mere $25. The game is one of the most popular games on both console and PC, so this sudden sale of a popular game is somewhat surprising. Still, those who are interested to purchase the game at this historically low price have until Thursday to complete their purchase, after which the price will revert back to normal.
