A few days ago, developer Majesco Entertainment released a gameplay trailer for the upcoming HD-release of the 2001 cult-classic Serious Sam: The First Encounter. The game was originally developed by the Croatian studio Croteam by a team of only six members. Serious Sam: The First Encounter won several awards including the Gamespot.com ‘PC Game of the Year’ award. The HD-version of the game will be released on both Xbox Live Arcade this summer and on the PC later this year.
The gameplay trailer is filled with the elements that made the series famous: explosions, headless, screaming suicide bombers and plenty of other wacky enemies. The trailer also shows a tremendous visual upgrade compared to the original. Though an exact release date is unclear, the game will be available at 1200 Microsoft points or $15, and include 4-man cooperative play.
I doubt that this’ll stay exclusive to XBLA–it’s Majesco Entertainment. But I’m glad that Serious Sam is getting some love.
