Anaheim, CA – A quarterly publication covering all aspects of Blizzard’s landmark MMORPG, World of Warcraft, set to launch in the Fall, will be featured at BlizzCon this weekend.  In addition to reporting on game content and other news about the ever-growing world of Azeroth, the magazine will also cover the players themselves and provide subscribers with tips, tactics, and strategies.

With a global simultaneous release in English, French, German, and Spanish, the magazine will only be available through subscriptions made either through a World of Warcraft account or at www.worldofwarcraftthemagazine.com (set to launch at 17:00 GMT on Friday, August 21).

Pricing will be divided into one and two-year subscriptions with the former at $39.95/€34.95/₤29.95 and the latter at $69.95/€61.25/₤52.50.  The first issue will serve to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the MMO and contain a retrospective of the game and how it has evolved since its 2005 launch in addition to a look at what the future holds.  With the initial issue packing a hefty 148 pages of articles and artwork, it’s certain to be a hit with WoW fans.

As for the staff, the magazine is being published by Future, publishers of magazines like PC Gamer and GamesMaster.  They also hold the official license from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo to publish magazines like Nintendo Power, PlayStation: The Official Magazine, and Xbox 360: The Official Magazine among others.  Industry veterans including former Xbox Magazine Senior Editor Dan Amrich and Wired alum Ryan Vulk as the Art Director will join Future’s established team in the production of the magazine and contributions will come from a panel of international gaming journalists.

Paul Sams, Chief Operating Officer of Blizzard Entertainment said,
“Future produces some of the most respected gaming magazines in the industry, and we’re pleased to be working closely with them to make World of Warcraft: The Magazine a true standout product. Together, we look forward to offering World of Warcraft players a great mix of entertaining and insightful content in every issue.”
