Assassin’s Creed: Lineage is a collection of three short films based on the up-coming Assassin’s Creed 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 20th, a PC release loosely scheduled for later. Developer Ubisoft has announced that the first film in the short trilogy will make its debut – on youtube.com – on October 27th. The company will also host the film on its own site, but only for the first 24-hours of its release. Acting as an immediate prequel to the second console installment in the franchise, the films are being developed by Hybride Studios – the visual effects department behind Sin City and 300. The shorts star the father of the protagonist in Assassin’s Creed 2, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, and covers the general world and some of the characters that the player will meet in the full retail game.
“Ubisoft is excited to share a new Assassin’s Creed experience with the public. The Assassin’s Creed Lineage film series is part of Ubisoft’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its intellectual properties by bringing them to multiple entertainment mediums, providing gamers with a more immersive experience when they play as Ezio, the master assassin of Assassin’s Creed II,” stated Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft.
