We all know of both Super Mario Brothers Wii and Super Mario Galaxy are heading our way in the coming months, but according to an inside source, a third, unknown project with the portly plumber is in the works. Charles Martinet, famous for his work voicing Mario, recently announced on his Twitter account, “Awesome new Mario Game! And it’s not NSMB Wii, and it’s not Galaxy 2, but it’s going to be crazy fun!” It’s likely then that this new game will be on the DS, with both currently known projects being Wii-based.

How does a ‘new Mario/Metroid/Zelda’ game constitute breaking news? I mean I’m not knocking it–if it’s a good game, I’ll buy and play it but I can tell you right now that, barring apocalyptic events, that Nintendo will make a new Mario after NSMB Wii and SMG 2 and this other one.
