Following a Tweet from skateboarding-legend Tony Hawk earlier this week, Activision has confirmed that the next installment in the Tony Hawk series will be known as Tony Hawk: SHRED. The previous Tony Hawk game that was released, Tony Hawk: RIDE, received generally negative reviews. It has not been announced if this new installment in the series will also utilize the skateboard peripheral that was included with Tony Hawk: RIDE.

Tony Hawk revealed the title last tuesday, by tweeting:

Tony Hawk: Shred. There, I said it. Actually, I named it. Somewhere a PR team is reeling.

The tweet was taken down shortly after it was posted, but had already been retweeted and posted several times by then. Today, Activision stated that the name of the next Tony Hawk installment is indeed Tony Hawk: SHRED. More information will be revealed in the coming months.

  1. Guessing it is going to fail if it uses the same board. They need to fix it. If not, then Tony Hawk needs to grow up, cut his losses, and figure out where he mess up the series (Tony Hawk Underground 2 is where the series became utter crap).

  2. Interesting… Tony Hawk is making a snowboarding game and Shaun White is making a skateboarding game… WTF is going on?
