The casual gaming department of Electronic Arts, EA Play, has announced that The Sims 3 will make its way onto consoles later this year. Unique versions of the game are currently indevelopment for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. The Sims 3 was originally released for the Pc and Mac in June 2009.

Each of the different console versions will include unique features. The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will allow players to exchange items and designs online, while the Nintendo Wii version will include an all-new area with unique careers options and other content.

According to NPD Data, The Sims 3 was the best-selling PC title of 2009, selling more than 1.4 million units in the first week following release. It is currently unclear whether content from the World Adventures and upcoming Ambitions expansion packs will also be included in the console versions of The Sims 3.   1. That’s actually great news. Sims 3 is a great game. Graphically, it’s no powerhouse. They’ll only need to get the controls down and they’ll have a big seller on their hands.
