Codemasters has confirmed that Operation Flashpoint: Red River, the sequel to Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising from 2009, will be released on the 21st of April in Europe. The game will hit store shelves in the United States on the 26th. The game will be set during a fictional civil war in 2013, in the country of Tajikstan, where players will face off against Chinese forces.

According to the developer, the game will contain a total of ten campaign missions that can be played either alone or with up to three friends. Additionally, a new gameplay mode known as Firefight Engagements will be available, specifically designed for 4-player cooperative play. Unlike its predecessor, Codemasters will not make a map editor available for Operation Flashpoint: Red River.
