Siliconera has reported that Microsoft will soon be launching the first Xbox Live Arcade game that will feature micro-transaction based gameplay. The title in question concerns Dungeon Fighter Online, an online beat-’em-up that was released in Asian territories around 2006, but wasn’t launched in North America until last year.

Though the game will be free to download on the platform, players can unlock items in the game by means of microtransactions. Neither Microsoft or publisher Nexon have announced a specific release date for the title, Dungeon Fighter Online will be the first console-based game that fully embraces the ‘freemium’ business model. The title will be exclusively available on the Xbox 360, and will feature English, Korean, Chinese, French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Japanese language options.
