Say what you want about the quality of Viacom/Gametrailers/Spike’s Video Game Awards (and we have plenty to say about it), but there is rarely a television event that packs more exclusive trailers and reveals into one night. For the 2011 ceremony, in addition to the official reveal of Alan Wake’s Night Springs, a new game from a Bioware studio is scheduled to make its debut, along with a cameo from Hideo Kojima and Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

The announcements were made via Twitter messages by the industry’s own Ryan Seacrest-lite, Geoff Keighley, who first teased Kojima’s appearance before an allusion to both Wake and Bioware.

The Spike Video Game Awards will be broadcast on December 10th, 2012. The full list of nominees can be viewed over on the show’s official website. Alas, Elder Geek has not yet been invited to be a part of the Spike TV Press Council, and thus given voting privileges for this year’s show, but trust us when we saw the Elder Geek GOTY awards will be much better.

  1. I’m looking forward to seeing Metal Gear Rising footage, real gameplay stuff.
Looks cool, I think Hideo Kojima’s a cool guy, alot of pressure is on him with this game especially because it’s the first ‘multi-platform’ Metal Gear game(for a very long time anyway).
