At the EA press conference during the first day of the E3, EA unveiled a new instalment in the Need for Speed franchise. This new episode in one of the longest-running racing franchises will be known as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and is being developed by Criterion Games, the original developer of the Burnout series. A title with a similar title was originally introduced in 1998 as the third installment in the series.
The new title, set for a release on November 16th 2010, will feature similar cops vs. suspect action as the original. Players will be able to take on the role of either a “most wanted” suspect or a law enforcement officer. Both will have access to high-end vehicles.
This is the first time in about 4 or 5 years that I am actually really excited for a Need For Speed game. NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 was my favorite game in the series, so if this one improves on that game it is going to be awesome.
Yeah NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 is my favorite game in the series as well. Perhaps even favorite racing came ever, that game just had such style and the sense of speed and fun factor was amazing.
My hopes are high for Need For Burnout… I hope to see more of the gameplay other than the multiplayer, which didn’t look great in the presentation. I kinda wish it was still Burnout, so I want to see it still have the Burnout appeal to it (breakneck speed, amazing crashes, heavy drifting gameplay).
In Criterion we trust
