Earlier today, THQ unveiled the release plans for half a dozen games that are slated for a release somewhere in financial year running from Spring 2011 until Winter 2012.
The announcement indicated that a new installment in the MX vs. ATV series, known as MX vs. ATV Alive, is set for a release somewhere in Spring 2011, while the upcoming fourth installment in Red Faction series will be made available in May 2011. Red Faction: Armageddon was originally set for a release in March 2011. The release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine has also been pushed back several months, and is now set for a release in the summer of 2011, where it was originally set for release somewhere “early” 2011.
Saint’s Row 3 and a new installment in the long-running WWE franchise will release during Fall 2011. The financial year will be closed with the release of a new UFC title.
THQ President and CEO Brian Farrell indicated that as a result of changes to release windows, he now expects the company to pull in an additional $25 million in net sales during the next financial year. Whether these additional sales are expected as a result of more advantageous release windows, or merely because they will no longer fall under the current financial year is unclear at this time.
