You can now play Bastion in your browser. Supergiant’s indie gem recently released on Google’s Chrome Web Store, and Google has proclaimed it the first of many great games to come to its native client. As reported by VentureBeat, Google wooed the likes of Square Enix to create high-quality ports of high-end games for their client at a recent event held at the company’s Googleplex headquarters in Mountain View, California.
The native client’s biggest selling factor – according to Google – is its simplicity, with a simple click of a check-box allowing for a Unity-based game to have its assets instantly reconfigured into the Chrome client. No other major games have been announced for the platform, but Google has been quoted as saying it is already hard at work designing features like gamepad compatibility and web sockets.
“Let us begin this new era together,” Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada said. “Google’s native client will be welcomed worldwide as a truly innovative technology for the information technology industry and game industry as well.”
