Sony Clarifies DRM Statement

Jack Tretton told GTTV on Tuesday that, “the DRM decision is going to have to be in the hands of the third parties.  That’s not something we’re going to dictate or control or mandate or implement.” Sony communications director Dan Race has since clarified to Gamefront that Tretton was specifically referring to playing used-games online.

“The Online Pass program for PlayStation first-party games will not continue on PlayStation 4.” Race said, in part. “Similar to PS3, we will not dictate the online used game strategy (the ability to play used games online) of its publishing partners.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut Not Exclusive To Wii U

Square Enix has announced the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut will not be a Wii U exclusive, and will release on the Xbox 360, PS3, Mac and PC later this year.

 

Mad Max Coming 2014, To Current and Next-Gen Consoles

According to an official press release from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the Mad Max game which was revealed at Sony’s press conference is an open-world third-person action game in which players will take on the role of Max.  As Max, you will try to survive in The Wasteland against gangs of bandits.

“The Wasteland lends itself incredibly well to the high level of player freedom with which Avalanche Studios has become synonymous. This unforgiving environment inspired us to create a gritty and diverse experience where driving, fighting and scavenging are essential for survival.”

The game will release on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC in 2014.

 

Shuhei Yoshida Confirms PS4 Is Region-Free, Last Guardian In Development

Sony Worldwide Studios boss, Shuhei Yoshida, has confirmed a couple of things via Twitter messages about the PlayStation 4. The PS4’s hard drive is upgradable just like the PS3’s and the console is region free. In an interview with GTTV, Jack Tretton said The Last Guardian was certainly not going away, “but it is on hiatus right now”. To clarify this statement Yoshida told CVG that the PS3 exclusive The Last Guardian is still “alive and kicking in terms of development”.

 

New Mirror’s Edge Will Reboot Franchise

EA has announced in a press release that the new Mirror’s Edge, which was unveiled at the company’s press conference, will reboot the franchise “for the next generation with advanced visuals and an all-new origin story for Faith.” It will release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

“We introduced Mirror’s Edge and Faith to gamers five years ago and we’ve waited for the right moment to reunite them,” said DICE Senior Producer, Sara Jansson. “Thanks to the Frostbite engine and a new generation of platforms, we are now able to deliver a richer world that players will be able to explore with a new level of freedom in both movement and action.”
