Andrew James and Ed Orman, respectively the Art Director and Lead Designer on 2K’s XCOM reboot/redesign, have left publisher 2K to form their own company. Uppercut Games looks to “bring AAA quality to mobile and downloadable games”, and have announced their first IP, the iOS-bound Epoch, to that effect. No word on what effect their departure will have on XCOM, which (at the time of this report) has not gone gold.
When you think of Dance Central type dance games, what’s the first band you think of? Well, you’re getting The Black Peas. Ubisoft proclaimed the glorious existence of The Black Eyed Peas Experience for Xbox 360/Kinect and Nintendo Wii. Expected soon, the game is supposedly the second in the “Experience” series, after The Michael Jackson Experience.

During its E3 press conference earlier today, Nintendo finally unveiled the WiiU, which was previously only known by its working title: Project Café. The console will be able produce images at 1080p, and features controllers with a touch-sensitive screen that allows users to play games while their television sets are tuned to a different channel, and adds extra functionality to certain games. Gamers waiting for the upcoming THQ title, Red Faction: Armageddon, may be excited to learn that once a million users from Xbox Live have downloaded the demo – released May 3 – the company will release “Mr. Toots”. “Mr. Toots” is a free rainbow unicorn weapon, which is demonstrated in the video of the same name from YouTube star Freddie Wong.

Sega has finally released some details on the long dormant sequel to one of the Dreamcast’s crown jewels. A leaked video (since taken offline) from a private promo event in the Akihabara district of Tokyo confirms a few important Phantasy Star Online 2 details: like third-person shooter segments and randomly generated hunting grounds.
A recently posted teaser on EA’s official Youtube channel for the Need for Speed franchise has revealed a new title in the franchise, dubbed Need for Speed: The Run. The trailer ends with an initial street date of November 15th, 2011.
Few trailers outside of Rockstar have garnered the internet buzz that Dead Island‘s cinematic trailer have. According to the game’s publisher Deep Silver, the trailer was even impressive enough to merit movie publishers to come calling for the film rights to the franchise. The publisher, while confirming the rights are still in their possession, is still shopping around for prospective buyers. The game, which began production in 2007, has had a rocky road to this year’s most talked about trailer so far.
Fans of the Viseral Games’ Dead Space 2 rejoice. The new DLC “Severed” has been dated for March 1st on Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network for 560 MS points (7 dollars) for North American players. European players can expect it on March 2nd for the Playstation Network, with nothing said about a PC release or Xbox Live release.
