3DS to drop to $169.99 this August.
Following a $30 price drop for their PSP-3000, Sony continues its hardware discounting by cutting the PSPGo from $200 to $150. Joystiq spotted the initial announcement on Sony’s official site. The $200 price came a year after the device’s launch, which was originally priced at $250.
An expected move with a new portable on the way, Sony has dropped the price of the PSP-3000 model from $170 to $130 in the States. The reduction will go into effect this Sunday, February 27th, and comes in conjunction with massive software deductions across the PSP library.
For many generations, $60 has been the standard retail price of any new video game software, but that might change this year, according to one Electronic Arts executive. Jason DeLong, senior producer for the company’s Canadian front, recently described this possible trend in an interview with GameInformer magazine.
