A piece of news that is sure to shock and sadden Silent Hill fans everywhere, Akira Yamaoka (the series composer) is leaving Konami. The news was leaked by Helldecent.com (a Silent Hill fan site) yesterday. Akira is moving on to pursue “possible solo projects”, exactly what he’ll be working on isn’t known.

The music of Silent Hill is widely beloved for its unique sound and atmosphere building qualities. He’s work has also been recognized outside of the industry for its technical prowess. Whatever mister Yamaoka moves on to, we here at Elder-Geek.com wish him all the best and look forward to hearing his next project. Who knows, perhaps he could even be commissioned by Konami to return to the Silent Hill series?
