The long waited sequel to the Max Payne franchise was absent from Take-Two Interactive’s major release slate for the next few years, likely meaning another delay for the title. A set of financial schedules sent to investors lays out the publisher’s major releases until “Calendar Year 2012.” The noir-action title was originally settled for an early 2010 release, before being delayed until Autumn of the same year and later postponed indefinitely back in June.

In response to the highly popular Professor Layton series for the Nintendo DS, Konami has unveiled a new puzzle/adventure title known as Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights. The game is being developed for the Nintendo 3DS, and is stated as being scheduled for a release somewhere in Spring 2011 in Japan. This makes it likely that the title will be released alongside the 3DS, or shortly after the new handheld is launched. It is currently unclear if Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights will also be released in Western territories.

The game will feature the eponymous Doctor Lautrec, his assistant Sophie, and a pet-monkey named Kiki as they attempt to solve mysteries in 19th century Paris. The game will feature an entirely voiced script, and also includes some form of battle mechanics, though these have not yet been detailed by Konami. (more…)

Alan Pritchard, Sega of America’s Vice President of Sales, has given a major preview of the publisher’s first quarter in 2011. First, the oft-rumored, disc-based”Dreamcast Collection” was confirmed in the latest issue of Game Informer, although no specific games were listed as being available in the compilation. Various retail listings for the “Collection” have a tentative release date of February 15th, 2011.
