GamerFirst, who today announced it has acquired the rights to the ill-fated action-MMO All Points Bulletin, has annouced that it is taking the game into development to prepare it for a free-to-play relaunch in the second half of 2011.

All Points Bulletin was shut down a mere two months and 17 days after being launched, as its developer was forced into administration. Gamerfirst is rumored to have acquired the title for £1.5 million, which is approximately $2.4 million. Gamerfirst did not indicate which specific features will be redesigned, or which parts of the original game will be left intact.

Following the sale of the All Points Bulletin IP, developer Realtime Worlds has been able to rehire 23 former-employees to keep the studio’s other product, MyWorld, operational while the studio continues to try and sell this franchise as well.

After numerous Blizzard-officials have expressed their interest in expanding Diablo III to consoles, an official announcement regarding this possibility has been released on the Diablo III community website. The messages states that the studio is currently looking for new employees to fill some “senior console-related positions.” Though the game is being developed to be played with a mouse and keyboard, but Blizzard has stated that “with proper care[,] the gameplay could suit the console platform.”

The announcement specifically adds that this should not be regarded as an announcement of a future Diablo III-console adaptation, but that Blizzard is merely exploring options to create one. The current development of the game is solely focused on the PC and Mac platforms, and this version will not be delayed by a possible console adaptation.

A release date for the highly anticipated action/adventure has not yet been confirmed. (more…)

CD Projekt RED today confirmed the release date of the one of the most-awaited RPG titles of 2011. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is targeted for release on May 17, 2011. Release dates in specific territories may vary, and will be confirmed closer to the date.

“We’ve decided to move the launch date back a few weeks to afford us more time to polish the game” – said Adam Badowski, project lead at CD Projekt RED. “Of course, we know that players would like to get the game as soon as possible, so we hope that they will forgive us! We strongly believe that the extra time spent polishing the title will be well worth the wait”.
