A crossover is oftentimes a cure for one or two ailing franchises. In the case of Capcom and Level-5’s recently revealed Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, however, the opposite is true. Capcom’s Ace Attorney franchise has sold 3.5 million units across all entries, with Professor Layton selling 9.5 million in total.
Puzzle solvers rejoice, as the two premiere portable problem-solvers are coming together onto on 3DS cartridge. Both titular characters (and their respective sidekicks) from the Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will join forces on an upcoming crossover adventure on Nintendo’s handheld.
Capcom’s Global Head of Production, Keiji Inafune, recently confirmed a collaboration with the famed developers at Level-5 (Dark Cloud, Professor Layton franchise) to Diamond Online, a Japanese business website. More specifically, the studio head was eager to discuss work with Akihiro Hino, the brain behind Layton. No details of the actual collaborative project were given.
