The main reason stated by Electronic Arts for their name change of Medal of Honor‘s ‘Opposing Forces’ (from the ‘Taliban’ in the original build) was the respect to the service men and women and their families. Despite the acquiescence to the complaints of military families and pundits, the game remains inaccessible on military base stores and affiliated GameStop locations.

Ron Gilbert, creator of Monkey Island (with newly recurring partner Tim Schafer) and DeathSpank, released a tirade against the “corporate control” over media publishing on his blog. Although most of his ire is directed to the musically-oriented Apple, he credits a lot of companies with ties in the video game realm for squashing creative innovation with bureaucratic politics.

Variety is reporting that the next video game set for transition to the movie theaters is Eidos’ Just Cause. Attached to L+E Pictures, producer Adrian Askarieh (Hitman, Kane and Lynch) is on board, as is screenwriter Michael Ross (Turistas). No production details are known at this time, but given that the film rights were just purchased, expect a 2012 release date at the earliest.

Yuji Naka, creator of Sonic the Hedgehog and NiGHTS into Dreams, revealed and discussed a couple motion control projects he worked on and later canned during a panel at Eurogamer Expo. Working with in-development versions of both Playstation Move and Microsoft Kinect, the designer does not regret closing the projects, despite his positive words on the control schemes.
