An anonymous Bioware Mythic employee, who refers to himself as EA Louse, has lashed out at the managers who were responsible for the development of the EA-operated MMORPG Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Besides singling out specific producers, managers, and directors, EA Louse continues to predict that the MMORPG currently in development at Bioware Austin, Star Wars: The Old Republic, will become “one of the greatest failures in the history of MMOs from EA. Probably at the level of the Sims Online.”

Speaking about the development process of Warhammer Online, EA Louse states that the development of the game was doomed from the start, as it was run by unqualified directors. As a result, the developers were unable to polish the game as much as they would have wanted while still adhering to the deadlines set by publisher EA.

Aiming specifically at Bioware and Star Wars: The Old Republic, EA Louse indicates that the developer has “spent more money making the Old Republic than James Cameron spent on Avatar.” In the past, EA already confirmed that The Old Republic was the most expensive game that had ever developed. The Bioware Mythic employee continues to state that Bioware lacks previous experience in the development of MMORPGs, and that besides the voice-overs, “the game is a joke. EA knows it and so does George Lucas, they’re panicking, and so most of Mythic has already been cannibalized to work in Austin on it because they can’t keep pushing back launch.”

The poster indicates that he is posting this message as he has found out that he will lose his job in a round of layoffs that EA will be conducting in November, but that he wishes to maintain his anonymity to preserve his paychecks. The message from EA Louse can be found here. (more…)

With the launch of Halo: Reach exactly one month behind us, Microsoft has announced that the first package of downloadable content will be made available on November 30th. The map pack, which is dubbed the “Noble Map Pack” will add a total of three maps at a price of 800 Microsoft points, which is equivalent to $10.

The first of these maps, Tempest, is set within two sets of ancient Forerunner facilities, and can also be used to create custom maps using the Forge option. The second map, Breakpoint, has been designed to suit the Invasion gametype, but will also be available in other playlists. Both Tempest and Breakpoint are aimed at facilitating matches for 8 to 16 players. The third and final map is known as Anchor 9 and is set within an orbital UNSC docking yard. As the film version of Uncharted slowly crawls out of development limbo, already we have a fan favorite actor campaigning for the lead role. Nathan Fillion, of Firefly and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog fame, has begun a Twitter campaign for him to be cast as treasure-hunter Nathan Drake. As unofficial as campaigns come, supporters can still vouch for Fillion by following him on Twitter and voicing their support via response messages.
