Tonight we’ll be posting the next episode of the Call of Duty Retrospective. This timeline is used in the video, but we thought it would be nice for everyone to see the timeline for themselves. Clocking in at a whopping 7M, we tried not to compress it into Oblivion. We’ll be altering the timeline as we go along and we’ll try to update the file as often as possible, but for now, enjoy!

On paper, offering nearly 100% of a finished game free online to all players may not seem a good business model. But the micro-transaction economies have lead many games to flourish, the latest being Lord of the Rings Online, which made the shift to free-to-play only a month ago. Kate Paiz, the Executive Producer on the title, has said the shift has lead to a doubling of revenue in that time, including 1 million new accounts and a 20% return rate from lapsed players.

One of the many video game film adaptations currently in development limbo, the World of Warcraft movie was hit with a major blow after Sam Raimi, the proposed director of the project, walked out. No statement has been issued from either Raimi or Legendary Pictures (the rights holder for the film) on the subject when contacted by Elder-Geek, but it is believed Raimi left over scheduling concerns with his attachment to a prequel to The Wizard of Oz.

In response to rising concerns to investors on both coasts following the price announcement of Nintendo’s upcoming 3DS portable, company President Satoru Iwata has shed some light on how they arrived at such a cost. The system (currently priced at 25,000 yen) was announced at this year’s E3, and received such praise from consumers and reporters alike, that the company felt its price listing justified.
