We recently reported on the government’s new educational game initiative, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) challenge to both development studios and individuals. On the industry side, a connected collaborative effort, Change the Education, has begun and already gained some major supporters. Activision Blizzard announced its involvement and support for the initiative, joining companies from other technological fields like founding organizations Kodak, Intel, and Xerox. The coalition will act as an evaluative force on current STEM projects, and gauge the future effectiveness of the initiative as a whole.

Coming out of a feature by Computers and Video Games, former art director for developer/publisher Ubisoft has claimed that the studio had begun production on, and later canned, a modern day version of its popular Prince of Persia franchise. Jacques-Belletete, now working on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, has also stated that he had worked on an Assassin’s Creed title destined for last generation consoles.

The 99%-confirmed PSP2 has been in the news a lot since a NetherRealm employee divulged its existence. But it appears that the studio behind Mortal Kombat isn’t the only one to have had a look at the upcoming handheld. According to multiple sources within many different developers, the system has been making the studio rounds in preparation for a “significant” launch line-up of titles. A report out of Develop indicates that Sony has released dev kits for the handheld across a broad studio spectrum, lending credibility to rumors suggesting a reveal of the PSP2 in the coming months.

Harkening back to the days of Nintendon’t and Genesisn’t, the respective heads and representatives of the two biggest publishers in the industry have begun what appears to be a press statement duel. Beginning with some statements from the soundbite-favorite Bobby Kotick of Activision, Electronic Arts has fired back to what it believes to be some heavy insults.
