Disney Splits Interactive Group’s President Duties

While the goal of Disney Interactive Group remains the combined research and development across mobile, video, and online gaming, CEO Bob Iger has split the tasks of managing the group to two presidents. The two placed in charge of the media group are former Electronic Arts executive John Pleasants and Jimmy Pitaro, who recently resigned as head of Yahoo! Media. Pleasants will head the gaming divisions, with Pitaro handling marketing and business content. Both act as the replacement of Steve Wadsworth, who left the organization last month.

DC Universe Online Delayed

2010 looks like its trying its hardest to match last year’s end-of-year delays, as Sony Online Entertainment is the latest publisher to push a product back into 2011. DC Universe Online, originally intended for a November 2nd release, has been delayed into sometime in Q1 2011, for both the PC and PS3 versions of the title. The extra time is supposedly needed “to address the community feedback in a meaningful way,” and more information on the new release date should be available when the game goes into public beta. All gamers that pre-order the title by November 15th will be receiving access to the beta.

Duke Nukem Forever Demo Key Included With Borderlands GOTY Edition

Though the game has not yet received an official release date, Gearbox Software has announced that consumers who purchase the “Game of the Year” edition of Borderlands will receive a key that grants them access to the “Duke Nukem First Access Club.” Besides providing users with a wealth of currently unspecified goodies, membership will grant gamers access the demo for Duke Nukem Forever.

It is unclear when the demo will be made available, though Gearbox indicated that it will launch somewhere before the release of the full game, which is scheduled somewhere in 2011.

The Borderlands Game of the Year edition contains the original game as well as the four separate pieces of downloadable content that were released over the last year. This edition will be available at retailers on October 12th, and is available for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. (more…)
